The mainstream Ford line of cars grew substantially larger for 1957, a model which lasted through 1959. The Crown Victoria with its flashy chrome "basket handle" was no more, and the acrylic glass-roofed Crown Victoria Skyliner was replaced by a new model, the retracting-roof hardtop Skyliner. The new chassis allowed the floor to be placed much lower, which in turn led to a lower and longer look overall. The major component of this chassis was a differential whose pinion gear was exceptionally low relative to the axle shafts, lower than in conventional hypoid differentials. The 1957 models retained a single-headlight front end like their predecessors, but were unmistakable with their long flanks and tailfins. A plethora of trim lines was introduced, starting with the base "Custom", "Custom 300", "Fairlane", and top-line "Fairlane 500". The two Custom lines used a 116 in wheelbase, while the Fairlanes had 118 in between the wheels. A new car/pickup truck hybrid based on the short-wheelbase chassis was also introduced, the Ranchero. This '59 Ford Custom 300 Two Door has been restored back to its original colors and comes with nearly all of the original paperwork from the dealer! This includes the original sales invoice, service policy and Certificate of Delivery from Courtesy Motor Sales in Chicago Illinois. This shows that the car was originally ordered with the Deluxe Package, Ford-O-Matic transmission, AM Radio, Heater and White Wall Tires. The car was delivered on September 12, 1959. This is said to be a 28,347 ORIGINAL mile car that has only had one repaint in its lifetime. The interior appears to be all original and in wonderful condition. The car even retains its original Dealer Stock sticker in the drivers side door! This car is a true time capsule! The paint appears to have been resprayed sometime in the past in the original color of April Green and looks great. There are no major imperfections to note. Both front and rear bumpers are original and in great condition. All of the trim pieces look great and have a great shine going all around the car. It appears that the rear tail lights have been replaced but the originals come with the car. Inside, the interior appears to be all original with only minimal wear showing. The seat shows some very minor staining to the drivers side but overall they look great. The door panels, kick panels, headliner and carpet all look great with no notable wear. The steering wheel, gauges and dash all look great with no cracking or wear. Under the hood, the 223 Cu In 6 cylinder fires up with a turn of the key and is connected to the Ford-O-Matic automatic transmission. The engine is nicely detailed under the hood and shows no signs of damage. In the trunk you will find the original matting as well as a full size bias ply spare and jack. The wheels are all wrapped with new bias ply wide white wall tires with body matching wheels and correct Ford hubcaps. The car is being sold on a clean title with VIN number A9GG164597. Current mileage shows 28,348 which is said to be original for the car.
