The Porsche 356 was Porsche's first production automobile. It was a lightweight and nimble-handling rear-engine rear-wheel-drive 2-door sports car available in hardtop coupe and open configurations. Design innovations continued during the years of manufacture, contributing to its motorsports success and popularity. Production started in 1948 at Gmund, Austria, where approximately 50 cars were built. In 1950 the factory relocated to Zuffenhausen, Germany, and general production of the 356 continued until April 1965, well after the replacement model 911 made its autumn 1963 debut. Of the 76,000 originally produced, it is estimated that approximately half are surviving today. MotoeXotica is proud to offer this stunning Holy Grail; one Southern California family owned Porsche 356SC Reutter Coupe with a rebuilt motor by Ted Blake. This incredible Porsche has an amazing story. The story starts when a lovely young lady named Joanna turned sixteen. Her mother bought her a car - but not just any car, but a red 356SC. Joanna's mother was from Holland and had a deep appreciation of German automobiles. She found a near-new 356SC at a Porsche dealer on Firestone Boulevard near their home just outside of Los Angeles. The only problem was that the owner of the dealership had this car imported for himself from Switzerland so he could drive it. After the owner of the dealership drove the car for two months, Joanna's mother finally convinced him to sell it since it was the only red 356 on the lot and they had to have a red car. The car still holds onto its Swiss, dealer installed badge on the fender. This beautiful car is a documented, one family owned car and possesses a Porsche 356 Registry Article (Volume 29-6) on the family and the car, which we have posted a photo of below. The Porsche has been properly cared for and stored from 1978 until 2002 in a dry Southern California garage. The chassis has 102,111 miles but has been properly maintained and has had the original, numbers matching engine rebuilt by a professional Porsche master mechanic, Ted Blake, in California at a cost of $15,000. The body is exceptionally sound and solid! Finished in the original Ruby Red color, this Porsche has received a lovely facelift and looks absolutely breathtaking. There are no notable imperfections to speak of. This extremely desirable Porsche 356SC is truly the real deal! Inside, the original Black Leatherette interior is still intact and still looks as great as it did back in 1964 when it was driven off the lot. The black leatherette seats have no major wear or imperfections. This car was truly loved and taken care of for a very long time. The headliner looks fantastic, but it does have a one inch section where the seam has split. We did replace the original worn carpet with the correct replacement carpet set. This Porsche is a true, numbers matching 356SC through and through with engine number 810519. This Porsche has the original, freshly rebuilt, 1720cc engine built by California Porsche master restorer and mechanic, Ted Blake. Still numbers matching, this engine only has a mere 300 miles on it since the rebuild! While in the shop for a nice sprucing up, the engine received new Weber carburetors, all new fuel lines and the fuel tank has been flushed and sealed. This Porsche is ready for any Sunday drive or even daily use. With the turn of a key, you could be cruising around, turning heads in easily the most drivable and comfortable series of Porsche 356 ever made. The originality of this 356SC didn't stop there. The original '64 Porsche 356SC wheels are intact and wrapped with new tires. The brakes also received a makeover and now have brand new disc brakes all the way around. Also included is the original black California plate for the car. Seldom does anyone come across a 356SC as gorgeous as this with only one owner and an included Certificate of Authenticity from the Porsche Registry. This would be an incredible addition to a
