1996 Ford Mustang

The Ford Mustang SVT Cobra was built by Ford Motor Company through the Special Vehicle Team division. It is a high-performance version of the Mustang built by Ford, sitting in the model range above the Mustang GT model. For 1996, Ford finally did away with the aging 5.0 liter V8 in the Mustang, replacing it with a new aluminum 4.6 liter, DOHC, "modular" unit that was smoother and had slightly better fuel economy. This engine produced 305 horsepower and 300 ft-lb's of torque, making the new Cobra capable of 0-60 in 5.5 and a 13.9 second quarter miles. Early models were backed by the Borg Warner T-45 5-speed manual transmission. The car you see here is the beautiful and rare 1996 Ford Mustang Mystic Cobra. What makes this Cobra so special? Two things; First, Ford produced only 2,000 Cobras with this very special Mystic paint in a one year run. The Mystic paint is a special color shifting paint. The paint is green based, but depending on which angle the car is viewed from, the colors shift from green to purple to root beer to gold. This particular Cobra is #1,323 out of 2,000 Mystic Cobras ever produced. The second thing is that this car currently shows only 2,233 ORIGINAL miles! One glance at this beautiful Cobra and you will instantly see that it has been meticulously maintained its entire life. The body is as sound and solid as the day it made its way out of the factory just outside of the Motor City. The paint itself is mesmerizing when you look at it. The paint is in pristine condition and looks incredible from every angle! This Cobra was only driven a handful of times yearly by its previous owner and stored in a climate controlled garage most of its life under a car cover which is included with the sale. This Cobra looks as if it has sat in a time capsule since the day it was delivered. Inside, you'll find that the interior is also in excellent condition. The seats are wrapped in beautiful black leather with no notable signs of wear anywhere. Everything from the headliner to the carpet, the dashboard to the steering wheel, all look fantastic. In typical SVT fashion, the instrument cluster is dressed up with white face gauges that really compliment the interior. You'll find that this Cobra has power windows, power locks, a 4-way power driver's seat and a Ford Mach Sound System with AM/FM radio and a CD player. Under the hood, you'll see that even the engine bay is as clean as the rest of the car. 1996 was the first year of the new 4.6L V8, dual overhead cam, 4 valves per cylinder, modular engine after Ford temporarily did away with the 5.0. This particular SVT Cobra engine even comes with a badge displaying that it was hand-built with pride. Attached to this 4.6L V8 is the strong Borg Warner T-45 5-Speed manual transmission. The original five spoke Cobra wheels are intact and look fantastic with the 245/45ZR17 BF Goodrich tires wrapped around them. The tires still have great tread life left. This is a very, very special and rare Mustang Cobra, as it was #1,323 out of only 2,000 Mystic Cobras EVER produced and is listed in the mystic Cobra registry. Included in the sale of this car is a binder full of original documentation, Certificate of Authenticity from SVT, original window sticker and photos from delivery day back in 1996, amongst other valuable documents.
